Testimonials

"This was my very first experience with Contact Improvisation, and I absolutely loved it! I came along with my friend, who recommended it, and I was hooked from the very first class. The festival was incredibly well-organized, with high-quality, professional teachers who were welcoming, accessible, and deeply knowledgeable. Their warmth and expertise created a safe and inspiring environment for learning."

In this Intensive, I will introduce a vocabulary of Listening, Light and Deep touch techniques, which we will explore in Contact Improvisation (CI), somatic bodywork, soft acrobatics and composition play. Returning to the roots of CI, we will revisit the early and principle practices of falling, rolling, spiralling, sharing weight, colliding, flying and standing. In these practices, we will work with the touch techniques, bringing into focus how touch is applied, experienced, and holsitically embodied. Moving through layers of skin, fascia, fat, muscle and bone we will investigate how we can safely place weight. We will work also slowly and progressively to incorporate a greater awareness space, so that we may enhance receptivity and empathy towards ourselves and others, in our interactions. We will also apply the listening, light and deep touch techniques to recognise and communicate our desires and boundaries, and to enhance agency, including emotional and energetic expression.
